Helping The Homeless
in Wakefield

Almost two dozen homeless deaths in wakefield in the 5 years to 2021

Dear supporter

I am extremely saddened to let you know that following a meeting of the trustees of the charity, a decision has been made to wind the charity up. I can assure you this decision has not been taken lightly and has been deferred for months, but sadly, we cannot see a way forward in Wakefield.

This extremely difficult decision has been made, as to us, it seems abundantly clear that Wakefield Council will not allow us to set up accommodation to accommodate the rough sleepers of our city. We have spent over 4 years working on many different proposed solutions to accommodate rough sleepers, starting with the old nightclub we purchased on Bank Street to turn into a hostel for rough sleepers.

The council have made all the right noises and continue to do so, but after 4 years we are still no closer to having the accommodation. It seems the council are frightened that if we provide rough sleeper accommodation, we will attract rough sleepers from outside the area, and we are unable to provide such accommodation without obtaining planning permission from the Council.

I would like to personally thank you for all your support over the years, helping us to try and deal with this shocking problem.

The charity does have funds in the bank that we will be passing to charities in Wakefield that help the homeless and those in need.

Once again, thank you so much for your support and my sincere apologies that we were not successful in our primary goal.

Wishing you all the very best.

Yours sincerely

NAPPADS

We are now searching for suitable locations on the edge of the city to put NAPpads on to accommodate the homeless.

We are pleased to announce that the charity is exploring the feasibility of introducing NAPpads to the Wakefield district in partnership with other organisations including Wakefield Council.

Check out the NAPpads video. The NAPpad are revolutionising the ability to providing Wakefields vulnerable people a safe and warm place to sleep. The challenge we have is finding a place to home theNAPpads; if you know of a piece of land we can rent in the Wakefield area, please contact us today.

Please Help us provide all year round NAPpad Shelter so Our Vulnerable people Don’t Freeze on our streets.
